When the Sounds of India Meet the Winds of Hengchun
Hanging on the wall of Green Land is a brass wind chime brought back from India by the host.
A gentle touch produces a clear, warm tone that resonates through the exposed concrete interior. Outside, Leucaena trees sway in the breeze; inside, the sound carries memories of a distant journey. Here, two different worlds quietly meet.
Beside the bed lie handwoven shell ginger mats, specially commissioned from Paiwan Indigenous artisans. This was a thoughtful detail envisioned by architect Grace Cheung: when guests step out of bed in the morning, their bare feet first meet the natural texture of woven grass before touching the concrete floor. The mats also bring the Indigenous craftsmanship of the Hengchun Peninsula into everyday life.
Clothes hang from a piece of native Taiwan Ebony, retaining the wood’s natural form and texture and bringing another material of the local landscape into the room.
The textiles are by Thai designer Sarinya Lim (SRINLIM), whose work has received both the Red Dot Design Award and Good Design Award. Green bed runners and cushions are complemented by touches of yellow and orange-red, echoing the surrounding woodland and the colours of sunset while bringing warmth to the grey concrete interior.

Watch the Wind Move Through the Woodland
From Green Land's private balcony, three tall acacia trees stand to the front right, while beyond their branches, Leucaena woodland stretches across the hillside.
Unlike the expansive views of the sea-facing rooms, the landscape here unfolds in layers. Nearby trees frame the distant woodland, creating a quiet sense of being surrounded by nature.
The Luoshan Wind | When the Wind Becomes Visible
The seasonal Luoshan wind is one of the defining natural features of the Hengchun Peninsula.
As the wind sweeps through the landscape, the nearby acacia branches sway while the Leucaena treetops ripple across the hillside. Each responds to the breeze in its own way, turning the woodland into a series of flowing green waves.
Sitting on the balcony, you can do more than hear the wind. You can watch its movement travel through the trees.
At Green Land, the woodland is more than a distant backdrop. It is a living landscape, constantly changing with the wind and light.

Green Land features a spacious private balcony of approximately 13.5 m². Three tall acacia trees stand to the front right, with Leucaena woodland covering the hillsides beyond.
Settle into the Crate & Barrel outdoor furniture with a cup of coffee, enjoy the shadows of the nearby trees, and watch the distant treetops sway in the breeze.
When Hengchun's seasonal Luoshan wind arrives, the two kinds of trees move to different rhythms. There is no need to venture into the forest to experience it. Simply sit on the balcony and watch the wind travel through the woodland.

The bathroom features a white freestanding bathtub overlooking the surrounding greenery.
Drop in a Zozola handmade bath bomb, sink into the warm water, and watch the branches sway outside as light and shadows shift across the landscape.
